Software Application Developer for Cornell University and other clients. I draw, garden and hike with the Amazing Watson.
After a few initial button-pushes, I noticed that Watson was "stress yawning" when I modelled his "words" (buttons) -- maybe he is confused about the sound coming out of the button or I was just asking too much too soon. So I took a step back to just work on paw targeting as others have suggested. I put a little treat under a little overturned pudding cup to get his attention and rewarded when he put his paw on it. I'm trying to say "word" when he touches it with his paw and trying to just get him used to the motion. I'm still modelling the buttons at the appropriate contextual times, but moving on quickly to take him "outside", to "play" or give him "scritches".
