Kristin & Eleanor

Hi all, I'm a therapist, and Eleanor is a therapy dog in training. She's a 6 month old bernedoodle puppy.

6 month old puppy loving the buttons, maybe too enthusiastic?

Hi all! We're new here and still poking around on the different boards to help us get going. Eleanor is a 6 month old bernedoodle. She got spayed this week, so we've spent more time doing training and trying to keep her mentally stimulated! She seems to be more and more intrigued by the buttons.Β

For a week or two after we introduced "outside," "all done" and "play," she mostly just pressed "outside." We added "puzzle" in the last few days, because we've also been doing more puzzles to keep her busy. That button was SUPER motivating for her, and now she's linking words to request her puzzles on the patio, haha. When she's really revved up though, she combines more than two buttons, and I don't think it's with a clear intention. For example, she'll press "puzzle food play" but I don't think she's quite clear enough yet on the different words to truly mean "put food in the puzzle so i can play with it." I do think she really understands "outside" and "puzzle."Β  She does also press "play puzzle" sometimes, and sometimes she does that in the middle of using the puzzle. I just added "help" because I'm wondering if she means "help" with the puzzle when she runs over to press "play" in the middle of working on it.Β
(For context, the puzzles are the Nina Otosson by Outward Hound ones)

I guess I'm just wondering - does it seem like too much chaos? Should I slow things down a bit? We are using 6 buttons now, and I'm concerned I added too much too quickly.Β

Thanks all! :)
